Comparing “White Man’s Burden” and “Baby Boy”
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper comparing the films “White Man’s Burden” and “Baby Boy”. “White Man’s Burden” (1995) directed by Desmond Nakano, and “Baby Boy” (2001) directed by John Singleton, are two films which both tell the stories of unemployed lower class individuals who exist and try and live within a racial society. “White Man’s Burden” shows a very class restrictive racial society in which the director has reversed the class distinctions by portraying a time when America is dominated by African Americans in the conservative upper class and the lower class is dominated by poor whites. The main character, Louis Pinnock, loses his job and blames his white boss and seems to be a victim of society and his class. In “Baby Boy” however, which portrays the urban African American society which exists today, the main character, Jody, seems more a victim of his own doing and at first seems disinterested in improving his life style. “Baby Boy” shows the anger of the African Americans and also the violence which can occur but also portrays a more in depth sensitive look at the lower class without providing stark contrasts with the upper class.

Comparing Jane Austen’s “Persuasion” with the 1995 Movie
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page
report discusses Jane Austen’s last novel “Persuasion” and the
1995 movie adaptation of the book. The characters of “Persuasion”
(or any other Jane Austen novel) are almost always constantly
talking. They chatter, they gossip, and speculate on every
aspect of the world around them. It is in this fact that the
“Persuasion” is the most radically different. Anne is not a
talker and neither is the object of her affection, Captain
Wentworth. Perhaps because of the multi-media experience of film,
this is conveyed with far greater emphasis in the 1995 movie of
“Persuasion” directed by Roger Mitchell. Bibliography lists 5
sources.

spaghetti. But it should be noted, tacos are actually a lot
closer to the “old West” than pasta! Bibliography lists 5
sources.

Comparing Two “Romeo and Juliet” Movies

This 3 page report discusses two 20th

Comparison of Realism in De Sica’s “Bicycle Thieves” and Eisenstein’s “The Battleship Potemkin”
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper discussing realism as found in De Sica’s “Bicycle Thieves” and Eisenstein’s “The Battleship Potemkin”. Vittorio de Sica’s film “Bicycle Thieves” (1948) and Sergei Eisenstein’s “The Battleship Potemkin” (1925) both use various elements of realism in order to portray stories which relate to the realistic lives lived by ordinary citizens during times of turmoil. De Sica’s film takes a personal story of one man in his attempt to live in a time of crime and poverty in Fascist Italy. De Sica’s elements of realism include not only the story of an ordinary man but also the director uses real locations and ordinary people for the roles as opposed to sets and actors, quite a departure from the fantasy films common to the time. Eisenstein in “The Battleship Potemkin” also used many ordinary people and sailors in his film but was careful not to focus on any one individual as he told of the horrid living conditions on the ship and the resulting revolution of the masses of people against the evil force of the government. In addition to using non-actors in much of the film, Eisenstein also uses quite vivid and graphic images in an intellectual montage in order to shock his viewers into the horrors and reality depicted in the film.
Bibliography list 5 sources.
