grisly as a "copycat" murder, and informed adults we know there
are few, if any simple answers to most questions of a
sociological nature. The discussion is this paper has two
prongs: considering the "why," of movie violence and then a
planned proposal to reduce the culture of violence. Bibliography

Regional Disparities In Canada: Characterization, Trends And Lessons For Economic Policy: Overview
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. The notion of social class separation has historically imbedded an indelible image of rich/poor and colored/noncolored in the minds of those on both sides of the problem; for the underprivileged it represents a chasm of economic and political inequity, while for the opposite end of the spectrum it symbolizes the very essence of a capitalist society. The extent to which Serge Coulombe's article entitled "Regional Disparities In Canada: Characterization, Trends And Lessons For Economic Policy" addresses this reality in terms of Canadian implications is both grand and far-reaching; that Canada has long suffered regional disparity where housing and other economic elements are concerned speaks to the reason why convergence of these two otherwise contrasting populations is such an important objective to pursue. Reiman's "The Rich Get Richer And The Poor Get Prison" - Drugs
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Chapter I of Jeffrey Reiman's The Rich Get Richer and the Poor Get Prison addresses the very questions Americans have been asking ever since the so-called war on drugs was waged. What readers quickly realize is how the quest to control illegal drug use within various populations is - as with most other important issues - based upon very complex socioeconomic undercurrents. Answers do exist to the overwhelming drug problem, however, they are cocooned within such political rigmarole and manipulation that actually applying a solution is fraught with struggle. Reiman (2006) clearly acknowledges how imprisonment is hardly the answer, inasmuch as overpopulation is one of the most pressing issues in today's penal system. Instead, the answer is preventive rather than reactive: keep the problem from perpetuating by not treating the symptom but rather addressing the core issues. No additional sources cited.

Using the three articles, Putnam's article and book and other sources, the writer asserts this is too simplistic. There are many factors involved with lower church attendance. Religious Profiling Or Reasonable Outreach?
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. The interpretive nature of how the LAPD attempted to gain information about the Muslim community for the antiterrorist agenda is what resides at the core of this civil rights issue and the primary reason why the operation was halted. The single most damning aspect of the strategy was an arbitrary understanding of what the word "moderate" meant within the context of flushing out vulnerable individuals who may have the potential for becoming mixed up with Iraqi fundamentalists? To what extent did personal opinion play a role in determining someone's moderate stance if he merely stated how wrong he thought the war was? Would that be considered a veiled threat to the safety of the United States? The level of subjectivity inherent to this type of broad-brushed operation cast the LAPD in a very awkward and inappropriate situation whereby their actions can indeed be construed as religious profiling. Rent Control: Impact Upon The Economy
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. Obtaining - and keeping - affordable housing within one's budget is one of contemporary society's most painful problems. The extent to which rent control has provided many the opportunity to find suitable housing where they otherwise would not is both grand and far-reaching; that the very aspect of rent control represents a dichotomy of tremendous proportions: It is a godsend for low-income people while at the same time a financial disaster for property owners locked into artificially low rents. One of the hardest hit populations where rent control - and its ultimate deregulation - is concerned is that of the homeless. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

The prevalence of abuse throughout the United States is not restricted to any age group, gender or ethnicity; that abuse crosses all lines of demarcation speaks to an equal opportunity offense where verbal or physical harm often goes undetected when the victim is either unable or unwilling to report the abuse. For those in California and Arkansas who have suffered at the hands of an abuser but are either afraid or wholly incapable of saying so, laws exist so that others may step in and ultimately make the report in the victim's defense. Nowhere is this more important a legal intervention than when children are targets of abuse. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
